NeoGraft hair restoration is an advanced follicular unit extraction (FUE) hair transplant technique offered in Rochester, NY, at the Quatela Center for Hair Restoration. The Quatela Center is the only practice in the region offering both the NeoGraft automated system and follicular unit transplantation (FUT). NeoGraft doesn't require an incision and is often preferred by hair transplant patients who wear their hair short.
Because Dr. Vito Quatela is one of the most experienced FUE hair transplant surgeons, people travel not only from Buffalo and Syracuse, NY but also internationally to the Quatela Center for Hair Restoration. NeoGraft is a breakthrough hair replacement technique that can create excellent results, but it may not be the right choice for you. During your consultation, Dr. Quatela or Dr. Lee examines your scalp and discusses your aesthetic goals. Your surgeon also explains your hair restoration options, including follicular unit transplantation (FUT), which is often called the "strip method." Nonsurgical options, such as topical or oral medications, may also work for you.
Together, you and your surgeon can discuss the advantages of choosing the FUE method with NeoGraft versus the advantages of the FUT method. NeoGraft has several advantages:
NeoGraft may require more treatment sessions to get the optimal results. Hair in the donor site (the back of the scalp, in most cases) is trimmed very short in a large area to ensure precise harvesting of hair grafts. NeoGraft is typically more costly than the FUT method.
Dr. Quatela's skilled hands and artist's eye set him apart from other hair transplant surgeons. Learn why so many men and women choose the Quatela Center for Hair Restoration.
The personalized patient care you receive at the Quatela Center begins with providing all the information you need to understand the benefits of hair transplant surgery. Everyone has areas of their scalps that are genetically programmed to resist the hormones that cause baldness. With the exception of some medical conditions, even people with male pattern baldness will continue to grow hair on the back and sides of their scalps. Hair harvested from these areas and grafted to balding portions of the scalp will continue to grow because it retains its genetic code.
Dr. Lee's first priority is providing compassionate, quality care. She believes hair restoration can change lives, and, at the Quatela Center for Hair Restoration, shes seen it firsthand. Having trained under Dr. Quatela, she has mastered advanced hair transplant surgical technology and technique and creates remarkable results for her hair loss patients.
A NeoGraft hair restoration procedure begins with a density count to determine the area of the scalp to harvest hair follicles. The hair in the donor site is trimmed extremely close to the scalp and a local anesthetic is used to numb the donor site prior to harvesting the grafts. The special NeoGraft hand piece is used to extract multiple tiny circular areas containing follicular units, which prevents damaging the grafts by pulling or twisting them.
During the procedure, you may be seated, or lying face down or on your side. Once the desired number of grafts has been harvested, the recipient site is numbed with a local anesthetic and each graft is transplanted with attention to the angle of the natural hair growth to produce results that look natural. These subtle factors are critically important for Dr. Quatela and Dr. Lee.
Because the NeoGraft technique is minimally invasive, recovery is fairly quick with few restrictions on your activities. The procedure results in minimal discomfort, somewhat akin to a mild sunburn. We will prescribe pain medications that may be needed for the first couple of days to relieve any discomfort you may experience. Please review the pre- and postoperative instructions to help you determine the length of time you will require before returning to work based on the activities you perform.
The transplanted hair follicles usually require about 3 months before new growth can be appreciated. They will experience a process of shedding and regrowth during that period, with good results at 6 months and full results after 1 year.
